Junior Kindergarten
Mornings 8:45 - 11: 45 AM
Full Day 8:45 AM - 2:30 PM

If your child is turning 5 in late Spring, Summer, or even September, they are eligible for our Junior Kindergarten class! Children develop more confidence both academically and socially while building the skills they need to be successful in Kindergarten and beyond.

Also known as a "Gift Of Time" program, Junior Kindergarten is a class designed specifically for older 4's. Some children in JK have already completed a Pre-K 4 program but are not yet ready to move on to Kindergarten. In the state of New Jersey, the birthday cut-off for K is Oct 1 and children can be 5 or 6 years old.

Junior Kindergarten has not one, but two lead teachers and maximum class size is sixteen, allowing for large group activities and individual learning time.

Our curriculum focuses on five interrelated dimensions of development:

  • physical well-being and motor development
  • social and emotional development
  • approaches to learning and skill building
  • language use
  • cognition and general knowledge

Children in Junior Kindergarten attend morning class 4 or 5 days/week from 8:45 - 11:45 AM; many students stay for lunch and attend afternoon electives (drama, sports, STEM, etc) in our ACHIEVE program until 2:30 PM. Optional hot lunch is served on Wednesdays. If your child has attended morning Pre-K, this is a great year to build stamina for the rigorous years of academics ahead while exploring interests both creatively and socially. Only you can make the right decision for your family and your child.
